STATS Group were contracted by COOEC Subsea Technology Co.,Ltd. to provide temporary subsea isolation of the YaCheng pipeline, situated in the South China Sea. The 780km 28” subsea gas export pipeline supplies gas to Hong Kong and had become damaged by an anchor approximately 280km from Hong Kong, at a water depth of 90 meters. The dragged anchor damaged one of two subsea Pipeline End Manifolds (PLEM) and made a severe dent in the pipeline adjacent to the downstream PLEM. When the damage was identified, a temporary repair was implemented by installing a 400m 14” bypass between the PLEMs, which enabled the pipeline to continue operating at its normal operating pressure of 70bar, while the permanent repair was being engineered. End 2016/Early 2017 two bachelor students of the Rotterdam Mainport University, Bob van Veen and Jens Balk joined us for their offshore minor project. DOI set them a challenge to invent a low cost method to retrieve offshore pipelines that need to be decommissioned. They came up with a tool that can be mounted on a simple ship, which reduces greatly the cost of retrieval.

The reel lay project is a water injection pipeline and the laying contractor is Subsea 7. 50Km of 12” 17.5mm DNV HFW 450 pipes were produced from state of the art 26” HFI pipe mill in Thisvi, Greece and were reeled in SS7 Vigra spoolbase. Russia's Gazprom began construction of the offshore section of the Turkish Stream natural gas pipeline on Sunday, off the coast of Krasnodarskiy Krai.
